The primary aim of this photography series has been to present the art of still photography from my perspective. Now, as we reached into the fourth segment, I find myself increasingly fascinated, nurturing my inner photographer. The process of compiling my learnings, experiments, experiences, and accomplishments has ignited a desire to continue pushing the boundaries. On that account, I aspire to share as much of my knowledge in this field with you.

In the previous blog, we explored the array of features offered by mobile phone cameras, enabling us to select the most appropriate ones to capture diverse and distinct images that convey our intended message. This blog serves as a continuation, focusing on how the use of different angles during photography significantly impacts the composition, visual experience, and interpretation of the images we capture.

How Different Angles Give a Perspective Edge and Contribute to Excellent Shots:

In photography, angles play a pivotal role in transforming a mundane subject into an extraordinary one. By exploring a variety of angles, you can discover hidden dimensions, textures, and unique perspectives that are often overlooked when shooting from the same eye level or standard viewpoints.

Imagine a simple flower as your subject. Capturing it from eye level might result in a pleasant but ordinary shot. However, by crouching down and shooting from a low angle, you suddenly immerse your focus in the world of the flower's petals and leaves. This low-angle perspective accentuates the delicacy and intricacy of the subject, making it more visually appealing. On the other hand, shooting from a high angle can provide a completely different story. Looking down on the same flower, you may construct an abstract and minimalistic composition that highlights its isolation against a blurred background. The angle difference turns the subject from a detailed, up-close encounter to an ethereal, faraway perspective.

Employing various angles allows you to present the subject in a fresh and unique light, offering the photos a novel perspective that they may not have considered before. Experimenting with different angles adds depth and dimension to your photographs, making them visually engaging and intriguing for the viewers.

By choosing the right angle, you can highlight specific details or features of the subject, allowing viewers to appreciate the intricacies and beauty that might have gone unnoticed otherwise. Angles enhance and compliment still photography because they create a fresh perspective on the subject matter when photographed from various viewpoints.

Having said that, let's examine all the possible perspectives from different angles for capturing photos.

 

1. Eye Level Angle:

2. High Angle (Bird's-Eye View):

3. Low Angle (Worm's-Eye View):

4. Oblique/ Tilted Angle:

- Shooting from an oblique angle introduces a dynamic and engaging perspective, often used to add a sense of movement, depth, and visual interest to the composition.

5. Overhead Angle:

However, it's important to note that these angle names serve as reference points and a beginner's guide. I highly encourage you to use your hands and your phone's lens to discover new angles and versatile perspectives for your photos, capturing the beauty of your subjects just as you see them through your own lens. Embrace a free-spirited approach to photography, making the process both unpredictable and enjoyable.
